gescott17 asked:

Last night, I realized several pimples on my arm have developed into staph. This is my second outbreak of it, the first being the result of a ****** reduction surgery in 2008. I can’t really afford to go to the doctor or for a perspiration for an antibiotic, so I did some research online.

I’ve read in several articles online that garlic will clear up a staph infection. I also read in several places that most cases of staph are not dangerous and will clear up within ten to fourteen days on their own.

Last night, my mother helped me bandage my arm up after setting garlic on the sores. We took it off this morning and it was less red, but still hard around the sores. I took a bath and lightly washed my arms with some sort of skin cleanser she had been given to use to prevent staph when she went in for surgery. After my bath, we did the garlic wrap again. This afternoon, I took it off and the redness has spread back out, but isn’t as inflamed as it looked last night. The hardness around the sores has gone away for the most part, only remaining just outside the sores. My skin is hot where it is red.

Since I noticed the staph, I’ve done two the garlic thing two times, as well as taken 2000 mg of amoxicillin and washed the area three times with the cleanser. My mom will most likely give me another 1000 mg of amoxicillin before I go to sleep tonight and we will wrap my arm up again with garlic after I take a bath tonight.

What I don’t want to hear is “Go to the doctor, its better to be in debt than risk your health.” Honestly, I’d rather be in the ground than in debt. So, please don’t leave remarks like that. Also, don’t copy that story about the man’s daughter and son-in-law with the staph. I’ve read it.
What I would like to hear, however, is:
About how long should it take to clear up this case of staph if I keep doing what I’m doing?
When should I be worried?
How long is too long before I consult my doctor?
What could happen if it got really bad?
How will I know if its really bad?
What kind of things can I do to prevent it from happening again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially if you know from experience or learned anything about it in a biology class, something with facts.
Thank you, Yahoo! Answers community!

Shawnta Montan

.faith.hope.love.toil.tears. asked:

I make my payments on time every month to my cards, but wont be able to soon.
I have reached out to my 2 credit cards numerous times telling them I may file for bankruptcy and they wont get anything, and asking for them to lower interest rate so I can make my monthly payments and actually see my balance go down instead of mostly toward interest. I was refused on any time of payment plan, settlement offer, or interest rate reduction.
NEXT: I spoke at length with Take Charge America, who will set me up on a 5 year payment plan (after the banks negotiate with THEM apparently), and I will pay off my full balance in 5 years, along with about $4k in interest and $2400 or so in fees to the company. Cards will be closed.

OR: I use Credit Solutions and I default on my cards so they can negotiate with the banks on my behalf and present me with settlement amounts which could be half if not more of the balance! I pay them $200. for 18 months and my debts to cards is paid within 36 months, if not sooner, at almost $12k less than what I owed.

BUT: Credit solutions has many scary reviews online. I spoke at length with 2 of their reps and they explained the process to me and it sounds like garden variety debt settlement, so.. i dunno. Which company? Anyone have any experience with either?

I also just called the collection dept. of my cards again and told them all this, can THEY offer me a settlement or payment plan so that there are no 3rd parties and the bank gets their money. They said nope, sorry. So i am kind of backed into a corner of having to use one or the other

Xavier Valentine

EK asked:

We have been given a sum of money to consolidate our debt. There are several credit accounts that we will be paying off with this loan. We will be paying off the creditors and closing the accounts. Most accounts are past due (unfortunately things happen and were out of our control for a bit). We’d like to contact the creditors via phone and negotiate a pay-off with them. We have letters from some that we have talked to before with “offers” to reduce the balance due to get it paid off. My question is, when we call them up, what is a reasonable reduction (percentage-wise) to ask them to agree to? We just want to make things right, but at the same time realize that a large portion of the balance is due to their fees and charges… Thanks for your input!

Soon Altenhofen

jcai asked:

1) Despite reaching 62% of GDP in 2003, the national debt in the United States isn’t a huge concern for some economists and policymakers.
1a) Some economists believe that one of the reasons not to worry is that the bulk of the public debt is “internal national debt”–the portion of the national debt owed to a nation’s own citizens and institutions.
Why isn’t the portion of the national debt owed to a nation’s own citizens and institutions a large concern?
A. Because the government can collect money from its own citizens anytime
B. Because an internal national debt does not affect economic growth
C. Because future generations always can shoulder the debt burden
D. Because paying internal debt is a matter of income redistribution, so overall purchasing power in the economy doesn’t change

1b) Which of the following is a reason why the U.S. government need not worry about going bankrupt?
A. Because the United States is an ally to most countries in the world, it never has to pay off the debt.
B. Governments remain solvent so long as they keep their debt as a percentage of GDP below 100%.
C. The government can refinance the public debt easily and has the authority to collect taxes.
D. All the public debt is held by U.S. citizens, firms, or government institutions.

2) Crowding out occurs when:
A. An increase in the tax rate leads to lower tax revenue
B. The public debt drives up real interest rates, leading to a reduction in investment spending and a lower future capital stock
C. An increase in taxes reduces the incentive to work and lowers real GDP
D. Investment spending drives up interest rates, discouraging government borrowing
